Dermal Fillers

What fillers can do:

Fillers can drastically reduce most fine and medium lines and plump up lips instantly, and the results last over 6 months.
Before After
Before fillers After Fillers
1. Prominent nasolabial folds
Typical results 24 hours after a full treatment of fine, heavy lines and lip enhancement
2. Fine lines on the philtrum, the area above the top lip

3. Lips which lack body and are finely creased

4. 'Puppet' lines which run from the corner of the mouth

How do they work?

As the skin ages, it gradually loses some of its collagen and fat. These are the materials that prevent the skin from becoming saggy. Therefore, as we age, our skin can become thinner and more wrinkled and lined. Dermal fillers help restore our skin to its former youthful appearance.

Natural gel (hyaluronic gel) is injected (usually with local anaesthetic) into the skin in areas where it needs to be plumped up and made to look firmer. Fillers come in different thicknesses and in general, the thicker the product, the deeper it is injected into the skin (see diagram) to help plump out fine to deep lines and wrinkles. Fillers are gradually removed by surrounding tissue and therefore last for 4-6 months. They can last longer if used regularly. The results, unlike Botox®, are visible immediately, and reversible if desired.

How long does it last?

Fillers are gradually taken up by surrounding tissue and last for 4-6 months. They can last longer if used regularly. The results are visible immediately.

Who can use fillers?

Almost anyone with suitable lines. Hyaluronic gel is a natural compound and it is extremely rare to be allergic to it.

Side effects?

Hyaluronic gel occurs naturally in the human body and has few possible adverse effects. It can be reversed if desired. As with all procedures of this nature, it does carry certain risks including infection. However, people who are injected with hyaluronic gel typically only experience minor inflammatory symptoms - such as swelling, redness, bruising, pain, and tenderness - for less than seven days. Some patients may also experience discoloration or unevenness in the skin around the injection site which is also normally temporary.

I'm scared of looking like Lesley Ash!

Lesley Ash and Pete Burns both famously had cosmetic intervention on their lips which went horribly wrong. Both were actually as a result of permanent lip implants, not hyaluronic gel. It is unheard of for hyaluronic gel to cause such a reaction.
