Dr Tim Pearce Video: Reflections after MD Codes Training

March 15, 2018

SkinViva Training founder and Clinical Director, Dr Tim Pearce, was invited by Allergan to join 3 days of training and mentorship from Mauricio de Maio at London 2018 MD Codes training.

He shares his reflections in this video:

What is MD Codes?

Tim says:

“They’re actually aiming to solve a couple of important problems for us as doctors and clinicians in medical aesthetics, but also allow patients to get much better results.

“…you can consider them a sort of algorithm for decision-making and I love a good algorithm so this approach of analysing faces, choosing injection points, making decisions about volume, position, safety and product choice – in a really systematic way that will get much more repeatable results.”

Tim commented on how the course influenced his thinking:

“It’ certainly shifted my perspective of the value of what I can achieve for patients. If you are willing to put the work in, these ideas will separate the best from the rest, but our patients will be the real winners.”

refusing cosmetic treatmentsAdvice for Practitioners and Clients

by Dr Tim Pearce, MBChB BSc (hons) MRCGP, Clinical Director

“The cosmetic treatments industry is often maligned in the press for over the top results or carrying out unsuitable treatments.

“Firstly, let’s get things straight, the ‘bad news’ cases are a tiny little proportion of the thousands of treatments that are carried out each day. However, these occasional media stories about dermal fillers ‘gone wrong’ or ‘inappropriate’ BOTOX treatment do give some people the wrong impression of our industry. (more…)

Hyaluronic Acid vs Collagen Injections

by Dr Tim Pearce, MBChB BSc (hons) MRCGP, Clinical Director

collagen in skinBack in the 80’s and early 90’s, cosmetic injections to replenish lost volume were relatively rare.

The market was dominated by bovine collagen injections, delivered with large needles. Results lasted a relatively short time and there was a 3% allergy rate, even among patients whose skin tests had been fine.

How far we’ve come…

Now there are hundreds of thousands of women and men in the UK who regularly have filler injections. However, bovine collagen injections are pretty much a thing of the past; as the market has been revolutionised by hyaluronic acid (HA).

botox fillers priceSkinViva Training has recently carried out some market research among our delegates and contacts to find out their views on the industry and the role of training.

One of the latest bits of information to come out was regarding the importance of price as a factor in choosing a training course. Price was actually rated the LEAST important consideration for delegates choosing a BOTOX/fillers training provider for botulinum toxin and dermal filler procedures.

FAQ: Can Beauty Therapists do Fillers/BOTOX?

March 29, 2017

One of the most commonly asked questions at SkinViva Training is whether beauticians or beauty therapists can do injectable cosmetic treatments in the UK.

The simple and straightforward answer to that is presently yes. Although these procedures involve injections, there are no laws to control who carries out cosmetic treatments.

However… in reality, the situation is more complex.

Patients Above Profit = Success

botox fillers success

by Dr Tim Pearce, MBChB BSc (hons) MRCGP, Clinical Director

It is my belief that success in aesthetics comes from focusing primarily on the client.

When it comes to delivering BOTOX injections and dermal fillers, the client’s welfare, safety and final results must come above any financial concern.

Delivering a great results at a fair price is an honest strategy which, in my experience, clients respect. This means that they’re far more likely to come back and also to make referrals.
